Ok, so I am almost a week late with that greeting but they always say “better late, than never”! It’s been almost 4 months since my last post. That’s not good. I have no excuse other than I have had a serious case of writers block and am still trying to get used to things.
This year is going to be great year or at least that’s what I keep telling myself. I mean, last year wasn’t bad considering all the changes that were made in my life. It was big adjustment but I have no regrets. None. I am happy where I am and where I am going. I’m happy with Monk and all the great people I have met over the past year. It’s really nice having my life slowly come together again. I still have to work on getting myself out of this house more for other things besides work. It’s kind of like my comfort zone, I guess. I spent weeks in my house never going anywhere besides bat shit crazy, that I think I just got used to it. It became my life.
I have set many goals for myself this year instead of the typical resolutions. One of them is to do this more…write. I love to write. I’m probably not very good at it but I enjoy doing it. I’ll have to post more on these goals later.
I am really starting to hate my job. For a while it was tolerable and even sometimes pleasant to be at. Go in, do my job and go home. No big deal. As of recently the customer comments & actions have taken me one step from the edge of flipping out. Here is one example of what irritates me.For those who don’t know, I am a cashier at a grocery store.
Customer come through my line and purchases one item for $2.75. She hands me a $5. We have a little machine that spits out the loose change at the end of the register. I go to hand her $2.oo and she smacks the quarter on the little counter.
Customer: I want a new quarter!
Me: (There was nothing wrong with the quarter she had) I’m sorry I have no loose change in my drawer but if you go to customer service they can exchange the quarter for you.
Customer: Why should I have to go to customer service?
(By this time I am irritated by her snippy tude’!)
Me: Because it’s your quarter now, not mine.
Customer: Oh my God,how rude!
Me rude?!? Okay, so I snatched the quarter from her hand and walked as slowly as possible to customer service desk and switched the quarter for her. I shouldn’t have but I did because I wanted evil wench away from me. She snatched it out of my hand and walked over to where we have sanitizing wipes for the carts and grabbed one to wipe down the quarter. Whatever! What makes people think it’s okay to act that way. She’s lucky I wasn’t the customer behind her who had to wait because I would have had a few choice words for her.
Well, not quite but we decided to put up some decorations. I don’t think this is all we will put up because this is Monk’s holiday. He’s in charge of all things Halloween. I get Christmas because he isn’t that into Christmas. We decided to decorate our Christmas tree this year in all black, purple & white. I don’t remember why but it’s an interesting idea. Something different from the traditional red, green and white. Should prove to be interesting to try and find black, purple and white decorations for a Christmas tree. Anyway, back to Halloween! This what we have done so far…
We also have the sliding door decorated with another skeleton and more blood splatter. I will take pictures of that stuff later. I want to get a really big spider or something to put on the porch. We are also trying to get a head start on costumes this year too. Karyn wants to be some sort of princess fairy again. We are trying to get her interested in something else but she is set on the fairy princess thing. It’s all good!
Ok, I know I haven’t been the best at keeping up with this blog. I could promise to keep up with it but I know that I will be able to keep up with it for about a week and then slowly stop posting for months. I will however, promise to make some kind of effort to post something at least every other day. Not sure why, I don’t think very many people read this but it makes me feel better to write. I have always been better at writing than speaking. That’s probably a good thing.
Yay! It’s been almost 2 months since we brought nugget home and you can’t believe how much he/she has grown. Still aren’t able to tell the sex but I think Nugget is a she.
Nugget on May 26th, 2009. Looking a little thin but healthy.
Nugget today, July 17th, 2009. See how her tail is a bit fatter and her belly is nice and full! I think she has grown at least 3/4 inches if not more.
We got her a new red light bulb because it gives off more heat. She likes to sleep against the water bowl because it’s made of some kind of rock and warms up quickly. We also changed the bedding from cage carpet to alfalfa pellets. Leopard gecko’s have tiny little nails and they kept getting snagged on the carpet. I will never use sand again because it does not digest well and will get impacted. Alfalfa pellets are easily digestible for them and I have actually caught her just munching on them, lol.
Since we moved into this apartment we have been making Karyn’s room more little girl friendly. Slowly, it’s starting to look like a little girl’s room. Karyn loves it because it’s all new to her.
She thinks it’s her birthday everyday!
Here, Monk is putting the glow-in-the-dark stars on her ceiling and wall.
I was in charge of using the hot glue gun to attach the stars to push pins. We kept laughing about all the glue strings I was leaving on the stars and couldn’t decide which would be worse, my hair everywhere or glue strings. My money is on my hair, I shed worse than a cat! LOL
Not the greatest picture but you can kind of see the stars.
The next night, Monk surprised Karyn with 2 new posters and new sheets! She was so excited! You should have seen the smile on her face! It was priceless!
You can’t tell in the picture but I put a glow in the dark star at the tip of Tinkerbell’s wand so in when the black light is on it looks really cool. Yes, Monk wanted to put a black light in her room. She LOVES it!
Recently, I have actually grown a little fond of the beach. I don’t mind going to the beach as long as I don’t have to work later that night because the sun just drains the life out of me. Well, I decided Karyn and I would go to the beach by ourselves which has never happened. lol Pays to live within walking distance to the beach.
Remember to keep hydrated! Karyn kept herself full of liquids! lol
We didn’t do much water play this trip because the water was FULL of seaweed. Yuck! It really didn’t stop Karyn, she didn’t care but I did. lol
The other night we went out and bought a mini grill. We don’t have much room on the porch and for safety reasons he lit it in the courtyard (plus, I believe it’s a breaks some fire code nonsense to own a grill in an apartment.) This all started at about 8pm. Later dinner, I know. We forgot that we may actually have to put the grill together, then let the grill heat up, etc…Needless to say we didn’t eat until almost 11pm. lol It was funny.
Karyn loves the Boom Boom Pow song by Black Eyed Peas. I catch her singing it when ever it’s on. When it came on this morning she got up and started dancing and I knew I had to take video.
For the last week or so, I have noticed that there is what looks like some kind of small animal poop on one of the chairs on the porch. It’s not a lot but it’s there every morning. Well, last night I saw this little guy crawling on the wall and I realized I found the mystery pooper! lol Then this morning, I was changing the orchid mix and there he was again, just chillin’ inside my orchid pot. I let Karyn hold him until I was done changing the mix and then we put him back so he can again live in peace. Isn’t he cute? He’s so little. It took a lot of convincing Karyn that this was not her pet and he belonged outside, then she told me she wanted a pet Gecko like me….Awwwwww!
